Creating A Site - Tutorials!

Site Names Tutorial

I'd recommend choosing one of your favorite adjectives or nouns, and turn it into a site name.

For example - I love zebras and my partner loves elephants. We put the two together, and got Elephants & Zebras. It's best if you choose something you have loved for a long time, that way there is a smaller chance you'll get sick of the name. If I were to choose my favorite adjective, it would probably be vivacious or audacious. (They rhyme!) Either one would work as my site name. :)

More Ideas - You can name it after a pet, your favorite person, a street, a restaurant, a flavor, a type of candy, something you like to do, your favorite nail polish color, a word in a different language, etc.

Watch Out! - I'd avoid picking any site name with the word 'pop' in it because I have seen probably hundreds of those site names. (Sugarpop, sourpop, cherrypop, guavapop, candypop, etc.)

Is my name taken? - If you're original, chances are, no it will not be. How many sites have you seen named Elephants & Zebras? I'm guessing only one. :P To check if it is taken... go to the search section on myspace, and type in your desired site name. Try it with the 'Full Name' option selected, and then try it with the 'Display Name' option selected. :) If no results come up, you're good to go!

What if I find out later my site name is taken? - I believe that if you came up with yourself, completely ignorant that it already existed, you still have a right to the site name. Anything you create, is yours. If this does occur, the other people with the same site name can't complain because chances are, they weren't being original enough. Like two sites named, "Myspace layouts.." I mean come on now, what do you expect? Someone else is going to come up with that too!

Have fun choosing a name, and remember: BE CREATIVE!
